There, everyone! I'm coming at you from the sunny Central Coast, living the parental dream of having kiddo at Cal Poly SLO. Yep, my child is knee-deep in the architecture program. Can't say understand the nitty-gritty of their studies though, the struggles are real when it comes to helping them adapt to this new college life. Let's talk thesis writing—specifically, improving those skills. Now, I'm no expert (it's been decades since my own uni days), but remember how much stress that darn thesis caused me. The endless nights poring over research materials, trying to find that perfect argument for my paper. Looking back, what really helped me was taking the time to understand the basics. Breaking it down into parts introduction, body and conclusion then piecing together coherent arguments. Even old school note-taking came in handy! I've given my kid these tips but I'd love for them to have more pointers especially from people more familiar with today's academic expectations or folks majoring in architecture—what structures your thesis? How do you After all, they've got one of California's finest educations at their fingertips we just need to help them leverage it!
