I'm working over at San Bernardino in community outreach, and we often get questions from Bio majors about part-time job opportunities around the area. In my three years here, I've seen some pretty neat gigs come up. Lab assistant roles tend to be popular, especially in our biology and chemistry departments. They give you hands-on experience with research techniques and foot in the door for grad school. So yeah, Some students have also found luck with local environmental groups, doing field work or data collection. Plus, it's California, so the outdoor perks aren't half bad!
Then there are always tutoring jobs those can be surprisingly rewarding, both for the pocketbook and your own understanding of the subject matter. Has anyone else here stumbled upon some hidden gem of job opportunity that'd suit Bio major? Or maybe you've got some advice on where to look or how to balance work and study? "Hello everyone! Senior here getting ready for college app season and Davis is high on my list because of their Environmental Science program. I'd love to know more about what being an major there really looks like class sizes, research opportunities, any cool projects or experiences?
I've always been fascinated by ecosystems and our impact on them since my trip to Yosemite last summer. Seriously life-changing stuff! So yeah, if anyone out there can give me peek into the Davis world, it would be super helpful!
