Why I'm still excited to transfer to SDSU despite the housing stress

When I first started reading about SDSU, I got overwhelmed. Rent is high. Parking is hard. The social scene seems daunting for transfers. I almost decided to go somewhere else. But after reading more student reviews, I've realized the challenges are manageable and the opportunities are worth it.

The academics are strong. A student review said: “My professors actually know my name. In a school this size, that's not guaranteed. But in my major, the classes are small enough that you get personal attention.” Another said: “The business school has great connections with local companies. I got an internship through a professor's referral.”

The campus culture is welcoming. Multiple reviews mention that SDSU is “friendly” and “not cutthroat” . One transfer student wrote: “I was terrified to transfer, but people are genuinely nice. In my first week, multiple people offered to show me around.”

The location is unbeatable. A reviewer said: “I go to the beach before class sometimes. It's a luxury I didn't expect.” Another said: “San Diego is an amazing city for young people. There's always something to do.”

The Transfer Center is a lifeline. I've learned that there's a dedicated office for transfer students with events, advising, and a community space. One student wrote: “The Transfer Center made me feel like I belonged here from day one.”

The challenges are real but solvable. Housing is expensive, but I can find roommates. Parking is hard, but I can take the trolley. Making friends takes effort, but there are clubs and transfer events.

I'm not pretending it'll be easy. But I'm no longer scared. SDSU feels like a place where I can build a life, even as a transfer. For other students considering SDSU, what's been your experience? I'd love to hear more. 🐾
